There are several ways to remove oil pastel stains from clothes.
Get pastels out of the carpet.
This cleaner was recommended and i thought if it worked for dried oil paint it should work for pastel.
If the spilled oil or grease soaks down into the padding beneath the carpet you may need to call in a professional carpet cleaner so it is important to soak up the oil spill as possible before it sets.
Do not use the beater bar attachment just the bare end of the metal hose.
Chalk is manufactured out of limestone and its traditional white form is used as a classroom tool for blackboards in forensics and for marking out patterns on fabric.
This works because oil pastels are a solid combination of pigment.
Soft pastels are essentially chalk not as bad as oil pastels that s what s ground into my carpet you might just be able to use either a normal vacuum or a rug doctor to get it out.
This will remove the chalk dust from carpet fibres but it will not remove the pastel colour.
However they are easily swiped onto clothes or worse still left in a pocket when the item is laundered.
It may seem the only thing to do is throw away the clothing.
I even tried it on an old black acrylic paint stain on my carpet and it just melted the paint.
When cleaning up a pastel mess always vacuum with the hose to get up most of the dust.
Upon discovering the crayon stain see if you can remove any excess colored wax using a dull knife.
However i ve implement it successfully on a few different occasions.
That s what i used to clean my brushes with and a few drops of water with it to get it activated.
Blot out as much of the oil as possible with a cloth or paper towels as soon as you discover the stain.
This will freeze any wax residue that remains.
How to get crayon out of carpet method 2.
All is not lost however.
If the oil is not dried on the carpet yet try using murphy s oil soap to remove the paint.
The carpet was fine.
But first you need to get out the vacummn don t touch the pastel in the carpet just cordone off the area so no one steps in it again and get out the vacuumn.
You ll have to do use a lot of clean rags so you don t spread the paint around while working it free.
Start by using tweezers to pick as much of the oil pastel off of the carpet as possible.
I m not 100 sure though.
Stick it right over the top of the pastel mark and let it sit there for a few seconds.
