When the ink is gone rinse your carpet with a warm water vinegar solution to prevent damage from the alcohol. Fortunately certain cleaning solutions will remove ink from nylon. Keep blotting for 30 minutes so the alcohol has time to dissolve the ink. The longer ink stain stays on the carpet the harder it is to be cleaned. Denatured alcohol also evaporates quickly which will help avoid damage to the padding underneath the carpet. It differs from rubbing alcohol in that it contains roughly 10 percent methanol which is very poisonous.

Now that the stain is removed you should get plain cold water and a new white cloth and sponge the area to remove the cleaning solution and then blot dry. Denatured alcohol is a great secret weapon to get out tough ink stains because of its heavy duty cleaning properties. Once the area is stain free dab the area with a towel dipped in lukewarm water. To remove ink from carpet wet a clean cloth with rubbing alcohol and gently blot the stain.

Sometimes it can mark surfaces not intended for ink such as fabrics. For that reason the key to getting ink out of carpet is by cleaning it immediately. Repeat steps 2 3 until the ballpoint ink stain is removed from the carpet. Then rinse it with plain water.

Moisten the ink stain with either rubbing alcohol or non oily hairspray.
